Share the Love this Valentine's Day
Who doesn’t love the idea of a day of love? The hearts, the candy, the flowers- all of it adds up and makes us feel incredibly loved. However, there might be another way to express love in a way that you might not have thought of before. This year, instead of spending hundreds on dollars on flowers, maybe donate that money to a good cause. More than ever, organizations are in dire need of volunteers and monetary donations. Below, I have put together a small list of different organizations that I think deserve some love this Valentine’s day. Each one is unique and serves a purpose in our community, so check them out.
1. Equus Foundation
The first one is the EQUUS Foundation, also interchangeably known as Horse Charities of America. It is one of the only national charities dedicated to the welfare of horses. Due to the EQUUS Foundation’s dedication to horses and the special bond they have with us, they spend their time rescuing horses that have been neglected and abandoned and give them the love and care that they deserve. Other services they provide include helping with special needs and veteran communities, which I personally find remarkable. The love that we all share for horses is one-of-a-kind, so therefore you should consider sharing the love with the EQUUS Foundation this Valentine’s Day.

2. Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA
Another one is called Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA. It is an organization dedicated to serving the children of your community that have been abused or neglected. CASA is committed to providing these children with volunteers that represent them in court and in life, giving these vulnerable children a voice within the court system. At this point there are still about 450,000 children waiting for someone to help them find a permanent, and safe, home. I find CASA to be one of the most beneficial organizations out there. CASA needs your support because it takes $1,000 to train one volunteer, so give them the love they need (or become a volunteer).

3. Feeding America
Next is Feeding America, which is a hunger-relief program dedicated to helping children and adults who are not able to receive nourishing meals on a regular basis. Not only that, but they also help these individuals find a stable, healthy, food supply. When disaster strikes, Feeding America is on the scene in order to assist with food and emergency supplies. Children and seniors also have designated special programs as well, each specified for their needs. Overall, hunger in America is a prominent issue, with about 46 million people in need of Feeding America’s services, so I find what they are doing is truly making a difference. Not only can you donate money, but you can also volunteer there as well… maybe a good Valentine’s Day date night idea.

4. Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International or PATH
Lastly, I find Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, or PATH International, to be another incredible organization. PATH is a nonprofit that utilizes the therapeutic qualities of horses to help with individuals that have special needs. Since 1969, they have been focused on helping these individuals through multiple equine activities, including therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, equine-facilitated mental heal, driving, and much more. With over 850 member centers and 7,600 individual members all over the world, PATH International makes sure to treat each individual with the love and care they deserve. Their love for horses and humans is beautiful, so make sure to go and love on them a little this Valentine’s Day.
