Funky Fair Foods

Hey y’all! As you all know, the State Fair of Texas just ended on the 23th (sad face), but I had the opportunity to go with some of my friends and try out some of the funky foods that appeared at this year’s food stands!  Here’s some of the funkiest stuff I could find:

1. Fletcher’s Corny Dogs!

Not so funky, but still a fan favorite.  Add some ketchup or mustard to taste and enjoy!

2. Cookie Fries (Chocolate Chip and Funfetti)

These fell a little flat.  There was not enough chocolate flavor in the chocolate chip ones and they didn’t even really taste like cookies.  Lastly, there aren’t that many in one order as compared to how many food coupons they cost.

3. Fried Oreos

Always delicious.  Be careful, though, because the Oreo cream gets really hot (I almost burned my mouth).

4. Fried Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

You heard me right, and yes: they are just melty chocolate/peanut butter candy rapped in dough!  But the Blue Bell ice cream with it really makes the difference.

5. Fried Jell-O

This one was a miss.  Of course there is the fried batter, but then you get this hint of cherry flavored Jell-O that neither my friends nor I really enjoyed.  (But if you like cherry Jell-O then maybe this is your thing!)

6. Bacon Margarita

No, this is not a joke; this is real life.  It actually tasted good!!!  It’s basically a glorified lime slushy with some bacon bits on top and it totally works.  (Beware of brain freeze and drink responsibly!)

7. Polish Sausage on a Stick

It’s exactly what it sounds like.  And it’s delicious.

8. Fried Snickers

This was also a very enjoyable experience.  It was melty with the crunch of the peanuts and the powdered sugar!  It was heaven.

9. Fried Mashed Potatoes

This was perhaps my favorite of the day!  Hockey pucks of mashed potato breaded and fried with a drizzle of brown gravy.  I think I’m making this for Thanksgiving this year!!!

10. Cotton Candy

And I couldn’t leave the fair without having a cotton candy cone!  (Unlike my six-year-old self, I did not get it all over my face and in my hair this time)
