The 2017 Calgary Stampede, located in the city of Calgary in Alberta, Canada takes place July 7th-16th, and is definitely something you don't want to miss! With over 1.2 million attendees from all over the world and endless events and activities, the possibility of having too much fun is not in the cards. The 10-day event happens every July, celebrating Canada's western heritage and values. “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” remains a treasured link to the history and a celebration of rodeo and agriculture.

Here are 6 reasons why you need to attend this spectacular event!

1. PRCA Rodeo
The “Richest Outdoor Rodeo in the World” is hosted every day of the 10-day event. With $2 million dollars in prizes up for grabs, there’s no doubt these professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls aren’t going to give it their all.

2. Free Pancake Breakfast

From pickled corn dogs, mac and cheese stuffed burgers to deep fried oreo milkshakes, the Calgary Stampede food selection has got it goin’ on. These wacky and delicious foods will have you heart (and more importantly, stomachs!) in a deep-fried frenzy.

4. Nonstop Music
More than 30 acts will perform at four different venues across the 10 day festival to keep the party rocking. Some of the big headliners include: Brooks and Dunn, Alabama, Cam, Neal McCoy and The Cadillac Three.

5. Never ending Entertainment
Every evening begins with chuck wagon races that have $1.15 million in total prizes up for grabs. The 36 drivers and 216 horses compete in nightly races that bring the crowd to their feet. Following the chuck wagon races is the Transalta Grandstand Show, which brings the spirit of Canada to life through a unique type of grand pageantry, theatrical special effects, music as well as acrobats and dancers.

6. Western Events
With the heart and spirit of the Calgary Stampede, agriculture and the western events are sure to be a highlight throughout the 10-day festival. There will be plenty of fun agricultural showcases to keep the kids entertained. Other events hosted include NCHA World Cutting Series, Heavy Horse Pulls, International Livestock Auctioneer Championships, Junior Steer Classic and more.
