5 Quotes that Every Equestrian Can Relate to

This week I decided to gather up a few quotes that I believe speak true to the equestrian heart. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of life makes us forget about why we love what we do so much. Hopefully you can relate to some (or all) of them.

“All equestrians, if they last long enough, learn that riding in whatever form is a lifelong sport and art, an endeavor that is both familiar and new every time you take the horse out of his stall or pasture."

- Jane Smiley

This quote rings true to anyone who has been a part of this sport for a long period of time. Being a part of the equestrian world is really a lifestyle. Dedicating each day to your horse physically and emotionally is hard work with each bringing about new challenges. This lifestyle is for those willing to give up everything for their horse, but we wouldn't trade it for anything.

“A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.”

- Pam Brown

Our horses allow us to accomplish the goals that we would never be able to do without them. They enhance our lives in ways that make each day an adventure, pushing us to limits we did not know we could reach. Give you horse a kiss today and tell him/her thank you for making life interesting!

“It’s a lot like nuts and bolts – if the rider’s nuts, the horse bolts!”

- Nicholas Evans

This quote is honestly just hilarious! Hopefully your horse hasn't bolted recently.

“When your horse follows you without being asked, when he rubs his head on yours, and when you look at him and feel a tingle down your spine…you know you are loved.”

- John Lyons

Having any animal love you is a gift, but having a horse love you is a honor. The ability to be able to take these wild animals and form a relationship with them is unique and unlike anything out there. The trust that is formed between a human and horse allows us to understand the capability of love that these horses can exhibit. It is such a beautiful thing.

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”

- Winston Churchill

This is probably one of the most famous quotes about horses, and probably one of the truest. Our horses make us better people because they teach us how to handle situations that are difficult, they teach us how to balance control, and they teach us how to love. There are not many other things in life that can do that.

I hope that these quotes were able to resonate with you. What are your favorite quotes about being an equestrian?
